Leadership

Katrina "Kaz"
Holland
Senior at Madison
High School
YC President
Kaz loves being the voice of the students. A loud, well spoken voice
at that. Kaz puts the "spunk" in "spunk-tacular."
In short, she's all
about "political advocation," as she puts it.
Contact her if: You have general questions about the Youth Caucus,
want her to speak to your group, or need to get something done in a
hurry.

Zoe Walmer
Sophomore at Lakeridge
High School
Director of Communications
Months of phone banking and canvassing taught Zoe the merits of
discussing politics with strangers. No word yet on what her mother
thinks of this skill. She feels most at home on the stage either
acting in British comedy or playing viola, which might explain her
randomly occurring English accent, but offers no explanation on her
obsession with Family Guy.
Contact her if: You're a member of the press who wants to learn more
or a student who wants to get involved with media and messaging.

Sonrisa Cooper
Junior at Cleveland
High School
Director of Silliness
Sonrisa is our tie breaking vote, Sergeant-at-Arms, and planner of
gelato runs. She is quite possibly the most organized person on the planet, a
master speller, and resident "happiest person ever." She's out to make the world more
like
Canada, that is to say: super cool.
Contact her if: You have a general Youth Caucus question or want to go
get some gelato in Portland.
sonrisa@busproject.org

Jacqueline Westergaard
Junior at Beaverton
High School
Director of Planning Logistics
Nothing slows down Jacquie, except maybe Panda Express, which she can
never resist stopping for. Maybe that's why her vegetarianism never
worked out...?
Contact her if: You want to help with the oh-so-important logistics
that make our events run smoothly.
Jacqueline@busproject.org

Josh Latto
Sophomore at Grant
High School
Director of Development & Finance
Josh would probably sleep in the office if it was a little closer to a
pool or lacrosse field. The three great loves of his life are office
supplies, accounting software, and the Green Bay Packers.
Contact him if: You want to help out with house parties or work on the
budget. He's also available to wander she aisles of Staples at a
moment's notice.
josh.latto@gmail.com

Claire McKinley
Sophomore at Grant High School
Director of Outreach
Claire is both a fantastic dancer and our resident Outreach Pirate.
She's the captain of Grant's Speech and Debate team and interns with
the Bus Project. Also, she bakes cookies at the office.
Contact her if: You want to join the Leadership Council, get more
involved, or get a really good excuse to talk to strangers on the
phone.
Claire.mckinley@busproject.org

Andy Longhurst
Sophomore at Valley Catholic
Co-Director of Political Advocacy
Andy is the bass playing eye on Salem for the Youth Caucus. He keeps
us updated on the goings on and works on how to support the good and
prevent the bad. Also, he loves the toy store on NW 23rd St. More
importantly, his blonde locks are kept in top condition with Herbal
Essences (he's turned Jacquie onto it too.)
Contact him if: You want to work on the advocacy part of the Youth
Caucus' mission or are a politician, lobbyist, or political group with
an inquiry about the organization and our actions.
Andy.Longhurst@busproject.org

Anneke Gronke
Home schooled Sophomore
Co-director of Political Advocacy
She may be camera shy, but that's just about the only kind of shy
Anneke Gronke is! She works with the Political Advocacy Committee to
keep an eye on Salem and kick some serious tuchis in the name of
Oregon's students.
Contact her if: You're interested in volunteering with Political
Advocacy or have a question/suggestion concerning Youth Caucus policy.
anneke.gronke@busproject.org

Trace Downen
Sunset High School Sophomore
Technology Director
Trace fits both qualities any good Tech Director needs: extensive
videography experience and a deep obsession with what he refers to as
"clam chowdah." For now he double tasks with capturing everything we
do on video and working on his startup company, Video Integrated
Productions. In the future, Trace hopes to work on Best Buy's Geek
Squad, but for now he'll settle with saving democracy one video at a
time.
Contact him if: You are interested in obtaining footage of what the
Youth Caucus has been up to or are doing something cool and YC related
that you think should be on tape. Or if you just want some "chowdah."

April Fernandes
University of Southern California Graduate
Youth Caucus Advisor
Originally from the Bay Area, April once worked with the USC volunteer
center where she was the cultural immersion coordinator for a
community service trip to a Navajo reservation where they helped out
the community and played with kids and puppies. Still, she fits in
well in Portland--spending hours in Powells and getting lost downtown
while listening to NPR. April also enjoys old episodes of the West
Wing, Voodoo doughnuts, and pumping her own gas when she drives south
of the border, the Oregon border that is.
Contact her if: You are interested in starting a local Youth Caucus
chapter, want to be a Youth Caucus mentor or can contribute.
April.Fernandes@busproject.org

Liz Redman
Pomona
College
Graduate
Youth Caucus Advisor
It's sometimes a little frightening how well Liz blends in with High
School students, one could say she's very "hip" and
"with it." She's
kind of a chameleon. It's a good thing.
Contact her if: You are interested in starting a local Youth Caucus
chapter, want to be a Youth Caucus mentor or can contribute.
liz@busproject.org

Youth Caucus' voice louder and clearer.
The Leadership
Council is made up of: Jennifer Jones, Nicole Petegorsky, Aaron Zalman, Paul Balmer, Alex Ankenny,
Marshall Baker, Hannah Kullberg, William Joseph, and Thomas Scharff.
